Officials have confirmed that Turkish warplanes attacked targets of the Kurdish Workers' Party, or PKK, along the borders with Iraq on Wednesday.
AP TV footage shows a Turkish F16 fighter jet landing at Diyarbakir air base on Wednesday, but it cannot confirm the nature of the aircraft's mission.
The operation came as the country is moving troops to the Iraq border. Turkey has said there will be no ceasefire with the separatist rebels.
The assaults on the rebels come after a rebel ambush killed 12 Turkish soldiers near the border with Iraq.
Adding to the tensions is the alleged capture of 8 Turkish soldiers who have been missing since Sunday's ambush.
