Chinese President Hu Jintao attended the business summit at the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) forum in Sydney on Thursday.
At the gathering he delivered a speech, in which he stressed China's views on building a sustainable future, especially on enhancing product quality and safety in international trade.

Reporter: In the speech entitled "Advancing Comprehensive Cooperation in Pursuit of Sustainable Development," Chinese President Hu Jintao put forward a five-point proposal, calling for the promotion of balanced world economic growth, the establishment of a sound multilateral trading regime, the maintenance of stable energy supply and a sound natural environment and the advancement in science, technology and education.
On the product quality matter, Hu Jintao says China pays much attention to the quality and safety of export products. China is willing to expand cooperation in this field with parties concerned, to strengthen exchanges and communication, so as to enhance the level of product quality and safety in international trade.
"China takes a responsible attitude in every step of production, circulation, import and export, as well as in every aspect of legislation, implementation, supervision and management. China is making careful efforts to ensure product quality and safety."
President Hu Jintao delivered the speech at the opening of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation Business Summit on Thursday. It was the first time for Chinese state leader to declare China's stance on product quality to the world.
Also on Thursday, China and Australia issued a joint statement in Sydney after Hu Jintao held talks with Australian Prime Minister John Howard, pledging to work together to address climate change and energy issues in ways consistent with each other's economic growth aspirations.
Johan Howard hailed China's development and economic and trade exchanges between the two countries over the last ten years.
