Hello, and welcome to this edition of " Africa Express" here on China Radio International. I'm your host, Wei Tong. Last time we came to know an amateur African football team in Beijing, Africa United, the players of which are Africans - coming from all walks of life. I happened to watch a football match: Africa versus Europe, as a part of the serial activities for Africa Day Celebrations.
Oh! Bad luck! Africa has lost the game two-nil. But the players are not discouraged. They are confident they can win the next game - with Asia. I meet some of them after the game.
I am Virgil from Rwanda. And I am Mohammed from Ivory Coast..." Players from Eritrea, Congo, Angola… Here are some Europeans who have played with these African players.
"I am French. My favorite player is, of course, Zidane. And I am from Italy. The match is good because we get to know a lot of friends from Africa. We are from different cultures but the love for football brings us together... I am Peter from Hungary. I think it is a good idea to promote African culture in China. China and Africa are developing close ties. Culture can enhance the mutual understanding between the two peoples."
What you hear is the coach of the Africa United football team P.Kagashani from Tanzania. He is coaching his players while competing against the European team. As an IT consultant, he spent his spare time coaching the team out of the love for football. Next time we will talk to him about his life in China. What's more, I came across a Cameroonian who teaches at a Korean International School. He is here to report on the exciting event for his school. Please stay tuned for our next program.
