This week in Washington, two heavyweights in the global economic field from the opposite sides of the globe put their heads together once again in an attempt to help find some solutions to tricky issues facing their bilateral trade. They are Chinese vice Premier Wu Yi and US Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson. Of course, the continuing issues of the trade imbalance and currency revaluation always dominate economic discussions between the US and China. But for the non-political businessman in the US thinking about trying to tap the China market, one question always comes to the forefront: how do you get the job done? And as more and more companies, not just from the US, but around the world, look to engage this ever-growing economy, what will they do to cope with the corporate world in China?

Ni hao, and welcome to  People In the Know, China's only daily English-language political current affairs program, online at www.crienglish.com, here on China Radio International. In this edition of the show, we'll talk to a pair of Americans who have penned separate works on doing business as a foreigner here in China. So let's get started.

First, to help us analyze what it's like to do business as an American here in China, we're first joined by Mr. James McGregor, journalist-turned-businessman who has been living here in China since the mid-1980s. He is also the author of One Billion Customers: Lessons from the Front Lines of Doing Business in China.

(Dialogue with McGregor)

And after we take a short break, we'll be back and chat with a member of the American Chamber of Commerce here in China for a corporate perspective.

Ni hao, you're listening to People In the Know, online at www.crienglish.com, here on China Radio International. I'm Paul James in Beijing. In this edition of our program, we're talking about what it takes to do business as a foreigner here in China. Now, for another perspective, we're joined by Ms. Laurie Underwood, who co-authored a book called China CEO: voices of Experience from 20 International Business Leaders. She is also the director of Communications & Publications with the American Chamber of Commerce in Shanghai.
