《Bye Bye》收录在Mariah Carey４月１５日由环球公司发行的专辑《E=MC²》中。离上一张专辑发行的时间长大三年之久，专辑花费了足足9个多月时间录制。至于灵感正是来自于爱因斯坦最著名的相对论‘(E) Emancipation = (MC) Mariah Carey (2) to the second power’，同时也巧妙结合她名字的英文缩写。
这张专辑的中国版不仅副赠有整张专辑的英文歌词，还有每首歌Mariah Carey自己写的心情日记。对于《Bye Bye》这首歌她这样写到：有时候，在创作《再见》这类歌的过程中，常常能出动到我心灵深处，甚至让我感动到哭。我会一边哭着一边创作，或者一边哭着一边思考。因为先要打动自己才能感动别人，这才是最重要的。不管我的事业会遇到多大的瓶颈，音乐这条路我仍须往前走下去，继续为需要我的歌迷创作歌曲，我相信这首歌会打动许许多多的人，换做我被别人写的歌曲感动，我也会一辈子感激对方。
